COUNSELLOR SUPERVISION

Counsellors and counselling students are required to have supervision to ensure safe practice. Counsellors, trainees and those involved in delivering counselling skills in any setting are ethically required to take Supervision. Your qualified supervisor will have a broad spectrum of experience across a range of theoretical approaches.

Particular attention is paid to the contextual settings in which you work: If you are a professional working with young families, psychosexual problems, or addictions, you are likely to have specific supervision requirements which All About People Ltd can provide.

All About People Ltd offer supervision at their practice in Leamington Spa, at your organisation’s own premises, and/or over the telephone. Supervision can be on a one-to-one basis, as a shared supervision, and/or in small groups.

At All About People, we adhere to BACP’s supervision guidelines which state:

  • For qualified counsellors the minimum recommendation for supervision is 1.5 hours per month, this is to be increased as necessary (can you take all your client hours to supervision within that time frame? If not then the 1.5 hours would need to be increased as the counsellor sees necessary)
  • Guidelines for trainee counsellors: 1.5 hours per month minimum. A ratio of 8 hours counselling to 1 hour supervision per month, with the trainee to see the supervisor fortnightly
  • And for group supervision, if there are 4 or less in the group, each counsellor can claim up to 50% of the time together. 5 or more the time needs to be divided by the number of counsellors in the group

In addition, we can offer half and whole day Continuing Professional Development courses designed to inform and develop your Counselling/Psychotherapy practice.
